What I Do I am an acupuncturist. I also teach acupuncture. Living in California I am licensed by the state to practice acupuncture and oriental bodywork, to use Oriental herbs in treatment, to teach Qigong (breathing and moving exercises) and
to dispense some dietary advice. All of this I do. Sacred Acupuncture Sacred Acupuncture is my version of acupuncture. As a patient I think you will find this type of acupuncture can do anything that acupuncture is well known for - it can relieve pain, improve energy, turn around many chronic disease patterns - but it can often do it better. Here is a 30 minute response to the question "What is acupuncture?" and "How does it work?" Just click on the link and your browser should be able to play the mp3 sound file, you can also download it to your computer or mp3 player: "What is acupuncture?" a sound file.
A Sacred Acupuncture treatment In the treatment we will talk for a while, then I will take the pulses and perform a Medical Qigong assessment. Now I can understand the illness or problem in your body from the Sacred Acupuncture perspective. I will tell you what I am finding and we will perform the acupuncture treatment. During this treatment you lie on a comfortable treatment table. Ultra-thin, sterilized acupuncture needles are inserted into safe points on your body. This is often a deeply relaxing and nourishing experience. During the treatment we will talk for a while and I might ask you to breath in a certain way or focus your awareness on something. After some time we will have accomplished a healing and I will let you rest with the needles in for a while. Most people fall asleep or get very relaxed or energized in this section. I, or an assistant, will take the needles out, and when you come out of the treatment room we will run through any herbal treatment options, dietary changes or Qigong and Shengong exercises to do. The herbs are very safe and very healing. They come in the form of pills or capsules or teas. You will be shown any Qigong exercises specific to your condition. Do you want to recover? Then take the herbs, do the Qigong exercises and come to your acupuncture appointments - and you will get improvement.
The Benefits of Sacred Acupuncture Many patients come to Sacred Acupuncture to relieve their pain. They go on to discover that not only does Sacred Acupuncture relieve pain, but that it also strengthens their immune system and boosts their energy. Some patients feel it increases their personal development or 'spiritual growth'. Some patients find that it reduces their stress and keeps them feeling in balance or at peak performance. For these reasons many of my patients come in periodically for maintenance Sacred Acupuncture treatments. How often will I have to come for treatment? That's up to you. Do you want to recover from your pain or illness or imbalance? I will recommend a course of treatment for you. Typical courses of treatment might be 6-12 sessions, one week apart. For acute and/or painful conditions a few sessions in quick succession is often useful to break up the acute pattern. In this way we get quicker results. You can stop treatment any time you want. Sometimes patients decide to continue, in order to deepen the benefits. In this case I may recommend a series of twelve sessions spaced approximately one week apart.
How much does it cost? A new patient consultation and treatment is $125 A regular treatment is $80 An extended treatment is $115 Sacred Acupuncture is often reimbursable by medical insurance and workers compensation insurance.
Clinic Locations I have two clinic locations -the Campbell clinic, which is close to San Jose, and the Santa Cruz clinic. I also see a small number of patients in the Sacred Acupuncture Grand Rounds at Five Branches University. This is a lower cost option, the treatment occurs in front of a group of acupuncture students.
